Persistent prayer in the face of injustice

November 18, 2019

For many citizens around the world, the perception is that law enforcement is not always just, and that people can too often be incarcerated without having committed a crime. The desire to offer a basis for more reliable justice is the motive behind sharing this week’s featured Sentinel article. If we fear injustice for loved ones or others—in whatever part of the world—can we, too, commit our hearts and minds to persisting in prayer for the justice all deserve? Can we believe that a higher truth is present with anyone wrongly incarcerated? Whatever concerns we have, we can all play a part in facing down the fear. And knowing that God’s divine presence is right there with everyone is a powerful place to start.

Forwarding racial harmony through honest self-awareness

August 28, 2019

As the author of this week’s lead article states, seeing everyone we meet as God’s creation dissolves clouds of fear, racism, and undue suspicion that block harmony and progress. Her heartfelt piece shows how our prayers to effectively combat racism begin with an honest self-awareness of our own need to overcome prejudice. We decided to tackle this topic this week to encourage all of us to be more diligent in consciously addressing this for our communities, wherever we’re located.
